Punjabi singer Dilnoor has approached the Mohali police after allegedly receiving a ransom threat asking him to convey a demand of ₹10 crore to fellow singer B Praak, officials said. The caller reportedly warned of “serious consequences” within a week if the money was not paid.
In his complaint to Mohali Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP), Dilnoor stated that the caller identified himself as Arju Bishnoi and claimed links to the Lawrence Bishnoi gang, according to ANI.
B Praak is a well-known figure in both the Punjabi and Bollywood music industries, with popular songs such as Teri Mitti from Kesari, Mann Bharrya, Filhall and Pachtaoge to his credit.
Two missed calls before threat message
According to the complaint, Dilnoor noticed two missed calls from an overseas number on January 5, which he did not respond to. The following day, he received another call from a different international number.
Dilnoor told police that he answered the call but disconnected it soon after becoming suspicious. Shortly afterwards, he allegedly received a voice message containing the ransom demand.
In the purported audio clip, the caller demanded ₹10 crore to be paid within a week and threatened harm to B Praak if the demand was not met, ANI reported. The caller also warned that the threat should not be taken lightly, claimed he was operating from outside India, and reiterated alleged links to the Lawrence Bishnoi gang.
After Dilnoor submitted a written complaint to the SSP Mohali on January 6, police said they initiated an investigation and are examining the call records and audio message.
The alleged threat comes amid a series of recent extortion calls and firing incidents that police have linked to the Lawrence Bishnoi gang. The gang has previously issued threats to several celebrities, including actor Salman Khan, and has also been linked to the killing of Punjabi singer Sidhu Moosewala.
