Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday congratulated Nitin Nabin on assuming charge as the new national president of the Bharatiya Janata Party, describing him as a “millennial” leader who represents a generation that has witnessed India’s rapid economic and technological transformation.
Speaking at a ceremony at the BJP’s Delhi headquarters, Modi said the party was now in the hands of a leader shaped by an era of significant change. “Nitin ji, in a way, is a millennial. He belongs to a generation that, in its childhood, listened to news on the radio and today is well versed in using AI,” the prime minister said, highlighting the shift India has undergone over the decades.
Nitin Nabin formally took over as BJP national president on Tuesday. He was elected unopposed on Monday during the nomination process, succeeding JP Nadda, who had served as the party’s president while also holding the health portfolio.
At the event, Modi praised former BJP national presidents Amit Shah and JP Nadda, crediting them for strengthening the party’s organisation, helping it retain power at the Centre, and expanding its influence across the country.
Congratulating Nabin on his new role, the prime minister remarked that the newly elected president would now be his “boss” in party matters. “Nitin Nabin ji is now our president. His responsibility is not limited to the BJP alone; it also includes ensuring coordination within the NDA,” Modi said.
Nabin is a senior politician and a five-time member of the Bihar Legislative Assembly, and has previously served as a minister in the Bihar government. He is widely regarded for his organisational skills and administrative experience.
