Several schools in Ahmedabad received bomb threats via email days ahead of Republic Day on January 26, the city’s crime branch said on Friday.

Following the alerts, teams from the Ahmedabad crime branch, including the bomb squad and the forensic department, were rushed to the affected schools and an investigation was launched. The probe is currently underway, news agency ANI reported.

Noida schools shut after bomb threats

A similar security scare was reported in Noida, where Shiv Nadar School received a bomb threat through email. As a precautionary measure, the school announced its closure for Friday, January 23.

“Dear Parent, we have received an email with a bomb threat this morning and, as a precautionary measure to allow for a security sweep, the school will remain closed today, Friday, January 23, 2026,” read the message sent by the school’s principal.

The communication added that school buses were being turned back and parents were requested to collect their children from designated drop-off points, with bus staff providing real-time updates on arrivals.

Apart from Shiv Nadar School, Bal Bharati School and Cambridge School in Noida were also closed on Friday.

Cambridge School received a bomb threat via email, following which parents were alerted and asked to pick up their children as a safety measure. Bal Bharati School was placed on high alert, and pre-primary classes, including Nursery, LKG and UKG, were dismissed.

However, no official reason for the alert at Bal Bharati was communicated to parents. Since different sections of the school operate on varying schedules, timings and bus routes, students from Classes 1 to 12 were still on campus at the time of reporting, with no message issued regarding their dismissal.
