Actor Kamaal Rashid Khan, popularly known as KRK, was arrested by Oshiwara police on Saturday morning in connection with a two-round firing incident reported earlier this month in Mumbai’s Andheri area.
Confirming the arrest, Zone 9 DCP Dikshit Gedam said KRK claimed that the shots were accidentally discharged from his licensed firearm while he was cleaning it. Police added that the weapon has been seized and legal formalities are currently in progress.
The incident took place on January 18, when two bullets were fired at Nalanda Society in Oshiwara. One round was recovered from a second-floor apartment belonging to a writer-director, while the other was found on the fourth floor, where a model resides. No injuries were reported in the incident.
An 18-member team from Oshiwara police station, led by senior inspector Sanjay Chavan, along with several crime branch units, conducted the investigation.
While initial CCTV footage failed to provide any breakthrough, forensic analysis later suggested that the bullets may have been fired from KRK’s bungalow, prompting investigators to identify him as the prime suspect.
