A 45-year-old Indian woman, Nancy Grewal, died following a stabbing incident in LaSalle, Ontario, a town in Essex County, Ontario, Canada, according to media reports. The incident is said to have occurred on the evening of March 3.
According to a report by CTV News, emergency services responded shortly before 9:30 pm (local time) to a call from the 2400 block of Todd Lane. Authorities have not yet confirmed whether a suspect has been taken into custody.
The victim was later identified as Nancy Grewal, a YouTuber and social media personality originally from Punjab. The Tribune first reported her identity, which appeared to be confirmed by a message shared on her social media account by a family member.
“With a very heavy heart I share that my beloved sister Nancy Grewal has passed away on 3 March 2026. I lost my sister, my strength, my forever friend. Rest in peace, my sister. You will always live in our hearts,” the post read on her Instagram handle.
Grewal, who was reportedly based in Windsor, Ontario, was found with serious injuries at the scene. She was rushed to hospital by Essex-Windsor Emergency Medical Services, but later succumbed to her injuries, according to police cited in the CTV News report.
As part of the ongoing investigation, LaSalle Police Service sealed off two nearby homes, an empty parking area and a section of woodland close to Todd Lane.
“The LaSalle Police Service offers our deepest sympathies to the family and friends of Ms. Grewal,” the department said in a social media statement. Officials added that investigators currently believe the incident to be isolated and said there is no broader threat to the public.
Nancy Grewal was known for her outspoken views on social media, where she frequently commented on India–Canada relations. Reports said she had criticised the previous government led by Justin Trudeau as well as individuals associated with pro-Khalistan views.
