With just three days remaining before the release of Dhurandhar: The Revenge, advance ticket bookings for the film have gained tremendous momentum. While preview bookings opened alongside the trailer launch on March 6, the full-scale advance booking for the opening weekend only began this past weekend. Since then, pre-sales have surged rapidly, setting new records almost every day.
Dhurandhar 2 advance booking update
Aditya Dhar’s much-awaited spy thriller is set to hit theatres on March 19, with paid preview shows scheduled for the evening of March 18. The film has already created history by recording the biggest premiere collection for an Indian film. It has grossed ₹32.44 crore from preview shows in India, surpassing the previous record held by Pawan Kalyan’s OG, which earned ₹25 crore during its premiere last year. Trade analysts believe the preview total could cross ₹40 crore by Wednesday.
Advance bookings for regular shows, starting Thursday, opened on Saturday. Within a short span, the film has already earned ₹14.66 crore gross in pre-sales for its opening day alone. Nearly 10 lakh tickets have been sold for the first two days of release. According to trade insiders, the overall domestic advance booking for the entire opening weekend has already crossed ₹60 crore.
The film is also performing exceptionally well overseas. The Ranveer Singh-starrer has become the first Indian movie to cross the $5 million mark in advance bookings in North America, surpassing the pre-sales records of films such as Pathaan, RRR, and Baahubali 2, each of which had crossed $4 million in the region. Globally, Dhurandhar 2 has already collected more than $6 million in advance bookings, taking its worldwide pre-sales total to an impressive ₹120 crore.
With more than two days still left before release, the worldwide advance booking figure is expected to comfortably cross ₹150 crore and could even approach ₹200 crore. If spot bookings also pick up at the same pace, Dhurandhar 2 could emerge as a massive box office force, reminiscent of the unprecedented success seen during the era of Baahubali.
All about Dhurandhar 2
Apart from Ranveer Singh, the film features R. Madhavan, Arjun Rampal, Sanjay Dutt, Sara Arjun, and Rakesh Bedi in key roles. Akshaye Khanna, who portrayed the antagonist Rehman Dakait in the first installment, is expected to make a cameo appearance.
The spy thriller releases in theatres on March 19. The first Dhurandhar film was a massive blockbuster, earning around ₹1300 crore worldwide and continuing its theatrical run even three months after its December release. Trade experts are now predicting that the sequel could cross ₹2000 crore globally and potentially challenge Dangal, which has held the record for the highest-grossing Indian film for nearly a decade.
