Dhurandhar 2 Box Office Day 1: Film Eyes ₹100 Crore Opening After Record-Breaking Start
Dhurandhar 2 has taken a phenomenal start at the box office and is heading towards a historic opening day. After setting new benchmarks with its paid previews, the film is now expected to comfortably cross the ₹100 crore net mark on day one—something no Hindi film has achieved before.
Directed by Aditya Dhar, the film released worldwide on Thursday, March 19, with select paid previews held a day earlier. These previews alone contributed a massive ₹43 crore net in India, smashing the previous record of ₹10 crore set by Stree 2.
Thanks to this strong start, the film effectively began its first day with ₹43 crore already in its kitty. By 11 AM on Thursday, early estimates from Sacnilk indicated that the film had added another ₹17 crore, taking its total to ₹60 crore within just the morning shows. This puts it among the biggest opening days in Bollywood history, with expectations of it climbing to the top spot by the end of the day.
The film is also performing well in regional markets. The Tamil dubbed version has crossed ₹2 crore, while the Telugu version is also seeing solid numbers. Collections from Malayalam and Kannada versions are expected to grow as those markets pick up momentum.
With ₹60 crore already collected, Dhurandhar 2 has surpassed the opening day figures of Pathaan (₹57 crore) and Stree 2 (₹54 crore). It now trails only Animal (₹64 crore) starring Ranbir Kapoor and Jawan (₹75 crore) led by Shah Rukh Khan—both of which it is expected to surpass by afternoon.
The film stars Ranveer Singh in the lead, alongside R. Madhavan, Arjun Rampal, Sanjay Dutt, Sara Arjun, and Rakesh Bedi. The spy thriller follows the success of its predecessor, which grossed ₹1300 crore worldwide and continues to run in theatres even months after release. The sequel is now poised to surpass those numbers with its massive opening momentum.
