Dhurandhar 2 Worldwide Box Office Day 1: ₹240 Crore Opening Sparks Record-Breaking Run
The Dhurandhar 2 wave has officially begun. Directed by Aditya Dhar, the high-octane spy thriller has taken the global box office by storm, delivering one of the biggest openings in Indian cinema history. While the sequel was expected to perform strongly, its massive numbers have stunned trade analysts.
Dhurandhar 2 Box Office Update
Released worldwide on March 19, Dhurandhar 2 got an early boost with record-breaking paid previews on Wednesday. The Ranveer Singh-starrer collected ₹43 crore net domestically and ₹75 crore gross worldwide from previews alone, crossing the ₹100 crore mark even before its official opening day.
On Thursday, the film maintained its momentum and expanded strongly across tier-2 and tier-3 cities. It earned a massive ₹102 crore net in India in a single day—the highest ever for a Hindi film—taking its domestic total to ₹145 crore net (₹174 crore gross) within just one day.
Internationally, the film also performed exceptionally well. Despite no festive advantage overseas, it earned nearly $7 million on Thursday, pushing its total overseas collection past $9 million. Overall, Dhurandhar 2 amassed ₹240 crore worldwide on day one, including ₹165 crore from Thursday alone.
Record-Breaking Performance
The film has shattered previous Bollywood opening records by a wide margin. The earlier record was held by Jawan (₹129 crore), followed by Pathaan (₹104 crore) and Animal (₹101 crore). Dhurandhar 2 has surpassed all of them comfortably.
Its performance also outpaced major pan-India blockbusters, including RRR (₹223 crore), Baahubali 2: The Conclusion (₹214 crore), Kalki 2898 AD (₹174 crore), and KGF Chapter 2 (₹159 crore).
About the Film
Alongside Ranveer Singh, the film features an ensemble cast including R. Madhavan, Arjun Rampal, Sanjay Dutt, Sara Arjun, and Rakesh Bedi.
The first Dhurandhar film had already grossed ₹1300 crore worldwide and continues to run in theatres months after release. With such a phenomenal start, the sequel is now expected to set even bigger benchmarks at the box office.
