The wait is finally over—Ranbir Kapoor’s first look as Lord Rama in Ramayana has been unveiled. This ambitious big-screen adaptation of India’s epic has been making headlines for years, with high expectations, particularly around its VFX, handled by producer Namit Malhotra’s company, DNEG.

The teaser was released on Thursday, coinciding with Hanuman Jayanti, and offers a glimpse of Ranbir in the iconic role. The final moment of the teaser also hints at Yash—who is co-producing the film—as Raavana.

Sharing the teaser in a collaborative Instagram post with director Nitesh Tiwari and Yash, Namit Malhotra wrote that Rama is revered not just for his greatness, but for a life defined by choices rooted in the greater good—placing duty above desire and sacrifice above self. He emphasized that Rama’s legacy continues to inspire faith in humanity and the power of goodness to resolve conflict and bring peace. The post also confirmed that Ramayana: Part 1 will release worldwide during Diwali 2026, putting an end to speculation around its release date.

The film also stars Sai Pallavi as Sita, Ravie Dubey as Laxman, and Yash as Raavana. According to Namit, the project is being made on a massive budget of ₹4,000 crore.

As expected, the teaser sparked a wave of reactions online. While many viewers praised the scale and were excited about Yash’s brief appearance, others felt the VFX could be improved. One fan admired Yash’s presence, calling his final shot a “majestic walk,” while another expressed excitement for Raavana’s full entry.

However, not all responses were positive. Some viewers pointed out that certain visuals felt like “gaming graphics.” Despite this, fans of Ranbir Kapoor came out strongly in support, with one emotional comment highlighting the teaser’s message—“Our truth, our history”—and extending prayers and best wishes to the makers.
