Samson smashed a brilliant 89 off 42 balls to power India to a massive total of 253/7. In response, Bethell produced a stunning counterattack, scoring 105 runs from just 48 deliveries and bringing England close to what would have been a historic chase. However, England ultimately finished at 246/7, falling just seven runs short of the target. Samson’s match-defining innings earned him the Player of the Match award.
