India on Fast Track to Next-Generation Reforms, Says PM Modi Ahead of Budget
Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday said India has “boarded the reforms express” and is moving ahead with next-generation reforms. Speaking three days before the Union Budget, he said, “Reform, perform, and transform has become the identity of this government… I urge all lawmakers to channel their energy to accelerate the reform express.”
Modi highlighted that the government is shifting from long-term pending problems to sustainable solutions, creating predictability and global trust. “Every decision is human-centric. We will leverage technology while being mindful of human sensitivities,” he said, outlining India’s future course amid ongoing global challenges.
Noting that 2026 marks the beginning of the second quarter of this century, Modi called it a crucial phase for building a Viksit Bharat (developed India). He also pointed out that Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman will present her ninth consecutive budget, a historic achievement in Parliament.
Modi lauded the recently signed India-EU Free Trade Agreement (FTA) as the “mother of all deals,” describing it as a major boost for youth, industries, and the nation’s self-reliance. He urged Indian manufacturers to focus on quality to capitalize on the new market opportunities. “Best quality products will not only earn revenue but also win hearts and enhance the country’s brand,” he said.
The Prime Minister also praised President Droupadi Murmu’s address ahead of the budget session, noting that it reflects the aspirations of all Indians.
