A Pakistani cricket fan vented his frustration in dramatic fashion after India defeated Pakistan by 61 runs in the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup clash on Sunday. A video that has since gone viral shows Waqar Azam smashing his television set with a cricket bat following his team’s heavy defeat.
In the Facebook video, Azam is seen repeatedly striking the TV inside what appears to be an empty room. “India defeated Pakistan again, and I just broke my TV in frustration,” he wrote in the caption. At one point, he pauses briefly, turns the damaged television around, and continues hitting the screen.
The emotional reaction reflects the disappointment felt by many Pakistani supporters after the loss.
Speaking to ANI in Colombo, another fan admitted that defeats against India were beginning to feel routine. “I was hopeful we would at least put up a fight. But we have no answers to Bumrah, we cannot face Hardik. The Indian team is very good, and we accept that. If this continues, we cannot beat India,” he said, while congratulating Team India on their performance.
India’s dominant win
India’s commanding victory was powered by a half-century from Ishan Kishan and a clinical all-round bowling display. The 61-run triumph further strengthened India’s dominance over their arch-rivals in T20 World Cup history, extending their head-to-head record to 8–1.
With three wins in three matches, India sits comfortably at the top of Group A. Pakistan, meanwhile, has slipped to third place with two wins and one defeat, while the USA occupies second position with two wins and two losses.
