‘Modi and I get things done’: Trump hails strong India-US ties amid Middle East tensions
US President Donald Trump on Friday praised his working relationship with Prime Minister Narendra Modi, saying both leaders are focused on delivering results.
In a message shared by the US Embassy in India on X, Trump said, “Our amazing relationship with India will be even stronger going forward. Prime Minister Modi and I are two people that get things done, something that cannot be said for most.”
The remarks come amid rising tensions in the Middle East following US and Israeli strikes on Iran. Against this backdrop, Modi and Trump held a phone conversation earlier this week to discuss the evolving situation.
During the call, both leaders exchanged views on developments in West Asia and stressed the importance of maintaining stability in global energy routes, particularly keeping the Strait of Hormuz open.
Sharing details of the conversation on X, Modi said he had a “useful exchange of views” with Trump and reiterated India’s stance in favour of de-escalation and early restoration of peace. He also underlined that ensuring the Strait of Hormuz remains open, secure, and accessible is crucial for global stability.
This marked the first conversation between the two leaders since the recent coordinated US-Israel military actions against Iran.
